How We Write Our Guides

Every guide on this site is researched from primary sources: the NDIA's supported independent living guideline and pages, the NDIS pricing schedule, and the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission's SIL Practice Standards and registration rules. We link to the sources on each page, show the date it was last checked, and correct mistakes quickly.

The Sources We Use

  • The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), including Our Guideline on supported independent living and the home and living pages on the NDIS website
  • The NDIS pricing schedule and pricing arrangements, for how SIL is priced
  • The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, including the SIL Practice Standards, mandatory registration and the provider register
  • The NDIA's guidance for SIL providers, including the roster of care and claiming rules

We don't rely on providers' blogs or forum posts for facts. If we can't confirm something in a primary source, we leave it out.

How We Keep Guides up to Date

SIL rules changed a lot in 2026, with mandatory registration and new practice standards, and NDIS prices are set each year. Rather than print figures that go stale, we explain how they're worked out and link to the current numbers. Each page shows when it was last checked, and we check again when the NDIA or the NDIS Commission publishes new guidance.

Our Independence

Providers pay us for introductions. They don't write our guides, pay to be mentioned in them, or see them before they're published. Our guides are general information, not advice about your plan or a particular provider.
